Swati shines in Kampala: one-handed para badminton star wins gold for India

Swati Singh, a one-handed para-badminton player from the village of Amita, Konch block, Jalaun district (UP), studying BA at Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU), has won multiple medals at the Uganda Para-Badminton International 2025, held in Kampala (July 1-6). She clinched gold in Women’s Doubles (SL3-SU5), silver in Women’s Singles (SU5), and bronze in Mixed Doubles. Her teammate Kanak Singh added two bronzes in women’s singles (SL4) and women’s doubles. Swati acknowledged her parents father Kamlesh Kumar (farmer) and mother Shakuntala Devi and the support of her university and coach Irshad Ahmed for her success.
